My First Book Club Appearance

My First Book Club Appearance

I saw an uptick in book sales last month, and it turns out, a book club in Fishers is making Revenge of the Soccer Moms its September book.  The best part about this is that I found out about it on the same day I wasn’t chosen as one of the speakers for the “Walk the Talk” presentation on Forgiveness. I was one of 25 people who tried out for 6 openings.

I was disappointed, but I’m going to go to the program–September 20 at The Vogue in Broad Ripple–and enjoy the 6 who were chosen and learn more about what they may have been looking for. The next program is on Mindfulness, which is not something I’m particularly mindful of (see what I did there?), but I’m thinking about whether I have something relevant to say on the subject.

Back to the Book Club. It’s at The Hawthorns Golf and Country Club in Fishers at 7pm on Sunday, September 10. The address is  12255 Club Point Dr, Fishers, IN 46037. Guests are welcome, if you’re interested.

I’ve been to a few author meetups, and I think I’ll try to only do half the talking, maybe less. I’d like to know what readers think about some of the decisions I made in writing the book, so I hope the book club members are up for me asking them questions.

I also think I’ll read a little from the next book, The Dead Mothers’ Club, and see what kind of reaction I get.

My writer and Facebook buddy, Bruce Jenvey, did a big book club appearance at The Villages in Florida, and sold enough books to cover the cost of the trip. I think that would be amazing. Maybe I’ll have to write a less “smart-assy” book though… I’m not sure how I’d be received by that audience.
